2014 in a (not so) nutshell

12:37 AM

2014 just flew past in a blink of an eye. The year hasn't been easy since its the year of the A levels. There has been ups and downs, happy and sad times but I guess they are experiences that I need to go through to grow. As much as I hate myself for not putting my best effort into the exams, as unmotivated as I was, its too late to regret and it had been done. Alright since I didn't do a September, October, November or December roundup, this is going to be an all encompassing post.

First up, Graduation in mid October. (September was quite a boring month with prelims and all so nothing much to talk about) Our class didn't participate in the school's graduation ceremony so we ended up having a small gathering at my form teacher's place with some of our teachers. To be honest, initially I was quite bummed out since we didn't get to graduate with the rest of the cohort, but I realised an intimate get together was more suited for us and it was a great night of fun and laughter (also some tears???) We had steamboat and ate our fill of our body weight, talking at the rooftop and were given our school bear! How cute are they! Of course we had to show our appreciation to the teachers so we got gifts for them! Its definitely a night to remember before hell began and since we didn't attend prom, it was also the last time we are together as a class in a less formal setting.

Really thankful for this class and though we're not the most bonded class and we all have our differences, we managed to be in harmony and be somewhat comfortable around each other? (Maybe I'm not so comfortable with guys) I managed to meet people I consider as some of my closest friends so even though we met under not so desirable conditions but I'm glad nonetheless.

Class 13S6J in our truest form (:

I've also attended my cousin's wedding in Jakarta, no pictures of the wedding but here's an airplane wing to prove that I flew there.

Of course November was the A levels and hence the lack of pictures and fun stuff.
After the end of A levels, I went for eyebrow threading! Not gonna show my eyebrows here coz' its kinda weird but yeah that's what I did and some shopping here and there.

Next, in December I went to Jakarta to visit and accompany and my grandma for about a week and a half. I didn't do much there since I couldn't go anywhere without a car and a driver. So I spent most of my days at my grandma's place rotting and binge watching shows. I provided more a physical company and mostly in silence coz' I have no idea what to talk about with my grandma. Also, she recently had another stroke and it affected her speech so I find it hard to understand what she was saying and I think it frustrates her as well. My uncle did bring me out of dinner from time to time with my cousin since my uncle's family were all in LA and he was only flying there in the same week I was there. I wanted to watch Interstellar really badly but they kinda stopped showing in the cinemas. Ended up watching Doraemon , s
Stand by me, since my cousins wanted to watch (they're younger than me by a few years btw). I thought Doraemon wouldn't be that popular since it was an animation but I was so wrong. The queue on the first day was so long and filled with adults all wanting to watch Doraemon on a weekday! Plus the tickets were all sold out! Unbelievable. The movie was alright, and guess what? I didn't cry! Its actually the finale to Doraemon so it was bound to be heartwarming.

I actually went to this mall thrice in that week and that was the christmas tree there! It was raining so we couldn't get a nicer picture. I also attended my nephew's birthday party to celebrate his 2nd birthday! Again no pictures because I didn't take any. Did some shopping during my trip but not much. I swear I got rounder since I ate so much and my grandma cinstantly make me eat food even when I was not hungry. :/ but food in Indo is too good to resist. Some of my favourites are Nasi Uduk (mixed rice, the rice is flavoured and with side dishes like potato and veggie), pempek (resembles fishcake but chewier), Medanese fried Kway Teow and Bakso(meatball) etc. Soon, I was back in Singapore and sad that I had to leave my grandma.

Back to rotting at home but I did manage to get out of the house to meet my friends for breakfast( no picture again) of local hawker food and on the same night was invited to my friend's place for dinner since it was her birthday. On the next day, which was Christmas eve, my family went on a short trip to Johor Bahru for Christmas.

Met up with my secondary school choir friends for lunch and catch up since we haven't seen each other for half a year already. Also to celebrate my friend's belated birthday, we shared the cake since we didn't manage to celebrate mine. It was great catching up with them.
That's about it for the last 4 months and they weren't that exciting (I think I've forgotten some stuff as well) but December is always my favourite month!

I've finally graduated from JC in 2014 and I believe that was my greatest achievement of the year. Hopefully 2015 will be better and on this note, its time for my resolutions!
1) Be more active and be fit (always a failure)
2) be more thrifty! And get more jobs! Though people always say money can't buy happiness but it brings security and thats a necessity in life
3) be more selfless by volunteering more! In this current age where selfishness is apparent, I want to be able to empathize others and make other people's lives better, defying the norm! Less about me and more about others!
4) be kinder
5) be happy

Not sure if they will pan out but lets just try to stick to it! But here are some wishes I have for the new year!
1) Get into NUS with a course I don't hate
2) everyone around me to be happy and healthy
3) and as cliched as it sounds, world peace.
All the terrorist attacks and killings and disasters are devastating. 2014 hasn't been a great year for aviation with all the missing planes and crashing, my heart goes out to the family members that lost their loved ones. With that said, I hope everyone would have a great new year's eve and look forward to a better 2015. Till next year! Cheerio!

Its Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

3:32 PM

Hey people on the internet! Since its the first of December, it means CHRISTMAS IS COMING!!! (You have no idea how excited I am) 24 days to Christmas everybody!!! Here are some gingerbread cookies that I baked to celebrate the start of December, my favourite month and time of the year! Although my family doesn't celebrate Christmas, I just love the festive season, the lights, the food, the smell, the weather (no it doesn't snow here, a girl can dream) and especially, the CHRISTMAS SONGS! Let's be honest, I've already started listening to Christmas songs in November (no shame here) and while I was trying to study last month (coughs coughs) I was rocking to Christmas songs and I made an entire playlist of it on Spotify! Here's the link if you're interested to rock along to my favourite Christmas songs http://open.spotify.com/user/belindangwr/playlist/0vGyDZWXxy8JmvWTSzqmQI

Go check it out!!! Its amaze balls.

Not to forget there's no school during December so HOLIDAY YAY. There's no winter here, just rain, rain and more rain so my love for sweaters and anything cozy is irrelevant here... Sighs. I guess I will be watching some Christmas movies! Like Elf, Love Actually or Home Alone! Its not something that I always do but since I'm stuck at home most of the time might as well start a new tradition! If only I could decorate my room to make it more festive but my room is too cluttered for that. Anyway hope everyone has a good month ahead and enjoy the festivities! Do check out my Spotify playlist and give it a follow if you like it! Till next time! Cheerios!
